A tragic incident has unfolded in Worthy Park, St. Catherine, where a vehicle carrying a man and a woman was washed away by floodwaters during heavy rains on Tuesday.
After extensive search efforts, the vehicle was located Thursday morning in a water-filled gully off the Worthy Park main road, where police recovered the bodies of the two occupants.
The victims have been identified as Junior Gooden, also known as “Bob Cat” or “Sweet Pea,” from Moneague in St. Ann, and Terrica Green from Tydixon in St. Catherine.
According to Superintendent Hopton Nicholson, Commanding Officer for the St. Catherine North Division, the vehicle was first spotted around 9 a.m. on Thursday in Lluidas Vale.
The retrieval process took several hours, with floodwaters still presenting significant challenges. Authorities enlisted a tractor from Worthy Park Estates to assist in extracting the vehicle once the waters had receded.
A firearm was found on the vehicle’s rear seat.
The Shady Grove police is investigating.
