Man killed, girlfriend injured in Manchester bar robbery

A man was fatally shot, and his girlfriend critically injured during a violent robbery attempt at a bar in the Iverness district, Knockpatrick, Manchester, on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Rushaine Weltshire, a resident of Iverness, according to police and family members.

The tragic incident occurred around 9 p.m. when two masked gunmen entered the bar, posing as customers. Weltshire’s girlfriend, who operates the establishment, was also present at the time.

Police reports indicate that as the men demanded money, Weltshire attempted to flee but was chased to a back room where the gunmen demanded, “weh di money deh?”

When their demands were not met, the gunmen opened fire, fatally wounding Weltshire and shooting his girlfriend in the abdomen. The woman was also physically assaulted in the attack.

A nearby taxi operator, who stopped after hearing the woman’s screams, had to make a quick retreat when his vehicle was struck by a hail of bullets. The driver narrowly escaped injury as gunfire shattered his windshield, passenger window, and one of the doors.
Despite the danger, he bravely returned to transport the injured woman to the hospital, where she was rushed into emergency surgery. Her condition is reportedly life-threatening, although she was said to be responsive before the procedure.

A relative of Weltshire says the attack has made the crime situation in Manchester more real for his family.
