Violence erupted in the Pleasant Hill community of Rockfort, East Kingston, on Monday evening when gunmen opened fire at a football match, leaving five people dead and others injured in what witnesses describe as a scene of chaos.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Donovan Graham confirmed the fatalities and stated that additional victims had been rushed to nearby hospitals. The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of their families.
“Law enforcement has launched a full-scale investigation into this tragic incident,” ACP Graham told reporters at the scene. “We are pursuing several leads and will provide more details as our investigation progresses.”
