61-Year-Old Farmer Shot and Killed while visiting girlfriend in Annotto Bay

A 61-year-old farmer, Michael Lumley, otherwise called ‘Mickey” was shot and killed on Monday evening while visiting his girlfriend in Iterboreale, Annotto Bay, St. Mary.

The incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. as Lumley reportedly sat in the yard.

According to police reports, a silver Toyota Axio pulled up at the gate, and two men exited the vehicle. They entered the yard and approached Lumley before opening fire, hitting him in the left shoulder. The gunmen then fled the scene in the waiting car.

Lumley was rushed to the Annotto Bay Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No one else was injured in the attack.

Authorities believe that Lumley’s murder is linked to ongoing gang violence in the area. His death brings the total number of murders in the Annotto Bay Division to 24 since the start of the year, highlighting the persistent violence affecting the community.

Deputy Superintendent Wallace, the new commanding officer for the parish, acknowledged the challenges. “We are seeing some reduction; however, four murders are still a cause for concern,” Wallace said, noting the continued efforts to curb the violence in the division.
