s sixth Global Gathering for Peace and Healing will take place while so many are still working to recover and heal from this year’s tragedies in the U.S., Mexico and around the world. On November 26, 2017 at 8:00am - 10:30am CST tens of thousands of people from all over the world are expected to unite in Mexico City’s historic Zócalo to meditate for global peace and healing. They will be joined by many more across Mexico via Televisa’s live broadcast on Canal 5 and from around the world via the official livestream on where anyone in the world can participate.
This year’s gathering couldn’t come at a more necessary time given recent natural disasters and acts of terror. During the meditation, attention will be directed to the survivors of the wildfires in California, the earthquake in central Mexico, Hurricanes Harvey, Irma & Maria, the deadly shootings and terror attacks in Las Vegas, New York City and Texas and most recently, those affected in Iraq & Iran by the earthquake. The intention is to bring peace and healing to events like these and serve as a time of reflection for us all.
The hour and-a-half long meditation will be guided by the founder of Naam Yoga, Dr. Joseph Michael Levry. The impressive Mexican landmark where momentous gatherings have taken place since the Aztecs ruled, has a capacity of 200,000 people. Public figures like Stella Hopkins, wife of Sir Anthony Hopkins, and founder of , Lavinia Errico will be participating in the meditation.
Naam Yoga is a combination of breath, sound and movement in order to achieve personal mind-body wellness and universal consciousness. It is the Naam Yoga community’s belief that the collective energy of the participants can help people all over the world. “It is our responsibility to individually and collectively contribute something positive, healing and uplifting to our planet. When a certain number of people come together in meditation, with sacred sound (Naam) while holding the vision of peace, the positive and healing impact is squared by the number of people present,” Dr. Levry said.
The first global meditation for peace was held in Mexico City in 2011 at Zócalo with 12,000 participants since then attendance has grown rapidly. In 2012 at the Revolution Monument 15,000 people came, in 2014 at the Angel of Independence 21,000 people joined and in 2015, the most recent event, around 100,000 people participated both in-person and online.
